    Default Yellowstone.......

    Am going to yellowstone in August , 1st time , staying @ yellowstone lake area? .... Wat flies?? I need a full heads up on this one ...... Links , flies , for both lake an rivers - streams
    yeah ,like they are just gonna jump on the hook ,,,huh

    You'll probably want to avoid the west side rivers - Madison (in the Park), Firehole, Gibbon as they'll probably be too warm by then. Think terrestrials.

    get Walt Wiese's Fly fishing Yellowstone Country. it is a must read for anyone fishing Yellowstone.

    We had relatively few grasshoppers in our area (I am located on the Yellowstone River, midway between the Park and Livingston) the past 2 summers, and as a result, fishing with them wasn't typical of a normal year - hopefully, this summer will get back to normal.

    After tying tons of hoppers that winter, we also saw very few last summer. On two trips up Slough, I saw only a couple hoppers, Probably all drowned with all the rain we had. Some forecasts show a drier summer so pack some. We saw some good PMD and BWO hatches. Get Walter's book and check Parks website.
