Well it is agreed that fish like peacock herl and it's been found through out the years that bronze herl is preferred in the dressing of flies. There must be a reason for this, perhaps it's snobbery, using a material that is perceived to be hard to obtain, giving the user the feeling of having something special, exclusive, or, maybe it might just be found to be more effective than green peacock. It is apparent that there is something different, and as Hans states, the base material is black or dark grey, it could be in the refractive qualities of each. Given that green peacock is darker than bronze peacock, this is why when wet, bronze peacock is orangey bronze as opposed to a darker red bronze of the green. Fishing deep the color obviously is not a factor, but as the fly swings back up the water column the color might play a more significant role. With emergers, wets and dries one has to give serious consideration to the different colors and refractive qualities of peacock herl and their real or imagined effect on fish.
Take care, Jim
