Looks like you couldn't sink it with a rock - neat concept. Is your foam strip hook gap width?
Closer to 2mm x 2mm. I can make the strip a little wider and still have it roll properly; it's a bit bulkier, but I'm hitting limits on the upper end of body thickness. I'm playing around with doubling the strip, then rolling it to achieve a wider profile; mixed results so far. I may have to go to 3mm foam for plus-sized flies.

Scott
I think the most of the foam I have may be 3mm, it came from Wally World and Hobby Lobby. I took a straight edge and used a razor sharp knife and but a strip approximately the same width as the thickness. I found I could furl it with just my fingers by rotating the end in opposite direction. The only foam I have that came from a fly shop is thinner.

Jesse,
The foam I get from the craft stores is usually 2mm, but every once in a while I'll find some that's noticeably thicker. It pays to poke around through the stuff to find these hidden treasures.

Scott, nothing I have has a label remaining and I think you are correct, I have some thicker foam also, don't use it much. I probably have a lifetime supply, unless they come out with a great new color. I have bought a little the Dollar Tree in a thick pack, it is thinner than the Hobby Lobby / Walmart stuff.
