    Default Cabelas CGR Review

    CGR.jpg

Recently I was able to pick up a Cabelas CGR 7' 4/5wt glass rod on sale. A great find since I have been watching them closely for a year or so. Now with the rod in hand, it was a matter of seeing whether or not it performed as well as it looked.

Gee Ralph, that's a purty rod, flings a craving on me. I love the one piece seat handle setup, it lets you feel the flex of the rod in your hand.

Uncle Jesse, Yes it does. It comes alive in your hand, which is what I do like about glass from the start.

I picked up a CGR during Cabela's 50th anniversary a few years back and I've used it fairly often on our small streams around here. It is a great little rod, it practically casts itself. I'm curious if the Cabela's Prime is anything in the same ballpark as the CGR.

I have actually been playing around & found some open water to test on. It's now paired it with another line which seems an even better fit. I've got a Cortland 555 DT 5wt On a Cortland Retro II. I think I'm there. Now, if Spring would just cooperate!
