I finally found ...
a bad Daiichi hook! It only took me about 5,000 hooks, but I found one today that had no eye. The bend was also messed up. Suprisingly, that's one of the only ones I've found since I started tying on them four years ago.

I like the Daiichi's too! If you are looking for a higher defect rate, try Eagle Claw Hooks. Those boys must be asleep when they run their machines!

I bought some Daiichi's a few weeks ago. I was in a hurry and grabbed three packs without looking at them real closely. I got home and found a surprise. The hooks were the style I wanted, but 2 of the three packs only had one hook in them. I talked to someone at the shop and told them about it. They said they found several single hook packs in their inventory. Seems like there may have been some bad QC that day at the plant and at the shop.
