I really like the old SA Mastery XPS lines in gray, but I always fished DT lines if I had them. When those run out, and assuming that they still exist and haven't been overtaken by a new and improved $300 basic line, I would switch to the SA Mastery Trout line.

With the price of lines these days, I buy a lot of discontinued stuff off sale racks in dusty old shops.

Are you asking about line weights or brand/model?

For my floating lines I use Rio Gold fly lines. They cast well with the Sage rods I use. For nymph fishing (strike indicator then two nymphs below) I use the Rio Indicator line.

SA Mastry Textured GPX. I love the stuff, but I'm told I'm odd. Luke

I have been using the Cortland Trout Boss lines in 4wt and 5wt for a couple of years now. Very good lines that are often overlooked as I think many new Cortland products have been while they have been recovering from their difficulties.

Dry fly or nymph? Lines are so well made these days, the distinction between the different brands and styles is really more a matter of taste than substantive.
