    Default ScottP - peacock herl?

You've been showing some pretty peacock herl on your SBS posts - did you find this somewhere, or is it your old stock? Looking for some. Or anybody else get some lately besides the stripped stems?

I did find what appears to be pretty good stuff on Amazon - got 12 large feathers (10 eye, 2 sword) for under $10. Haven't tied any flies using stripped herl with it, yet. I also found that steaming my old stuff has helped a lot.

    Regards,
    Scott

Fishy, this is a link that I had saved for better PC quills but...I have not used them as yet b/c I've not run dry. So..just an FYI but if you order I hope it helps you. Best I can do.

Oh, that kind of steamer - thought maybe it was something British.

A pretty ratty herl (standard packaged stuff you find in shops these days) - top part has been steamed, bottom is as it came out of the package. May not look like much, but it does make a difference when you wrap it on a hook. I'd like to see what Stone River has (didn't they used to be Hunters?); legend has it that Ed Story at Feather-Craft had the best herl, the stuff they'd sell to Lefty, Clouser, Whitlock, et al.

    Regards,
    Scott
