    Default Forcast rod kits?

I'm looking into trying out a lightweight rod, so a cheap-o is my first option. Has anyone had any experience with hook and hackles forecast 6'6'' 2wt. I also chose this rod because I do alot of creek fishing and backpacking, so size is a serious consideration. Any recomendations are welcome.

P.S. somebody could send me a 2wt. boo to try out?

While I have had good luck with everything I have purchased from Hook and Hackle especially the 9' 3 wt IM6 blank which I believe is one of the best 3 wts on the planet.I would suggest you consider the Cabela's Three Forks 7 1/2' 3 wt 3 pc. It will break down shorter than the 2 pc 6'6" and the difference between a 2 and 3 wt is minimal.
IMO the Three Forks is the best value in the history of civilized man. My only experience is with the 3 wt. It casts like a rod costing much more than the $50 price AND you don't have to put it together.

    Mountainlaker,

I've built some( Forecasts in the past, including the 7'6" 5 weight in a 4 piece, and am very happy with them. In fact, last Thursday I ordered the very same rod you mentioned. One thing I would suggest doing that I did not do one the 4 piece I built, put some type of identifier nesr the ferrules to line up the sections. These can be a little dot, a line or any small design.

I love them. Cheap-o pricing, but good quality. I've built quite a few of them and like them a lot. They aren't a TCR by any means, but then again, I wouldn't want a TCR for the areas and types of fishing I do anyway. They are just a good moderate action line of blanks.

I checked out the cabelas 7'6'' 2wt and really like it. Also, it's a great value at only $80.00 for the combo. I would like to build a rod, but don't really have time as this is my last summer before graduating and i'm planning on alot of time comsuming hikes while im still free on summers...and work Thank you to everyone

    MountainLaker,

The summer is for fishing, the winter is for building rods. Give it a shot when your waters close up for the season.
