I found a good deal on a Sage rod and reel (Xi3 and 4210), so I'm now set. Thanks for your responses.

Thanks, Striper, but a twelve will be a bit too much for the permit and smaller, winter tarpon we're fishing for.

Still looking for a 10 weight, particularly a quality 4 piece rod.
