An alternative to the standard Pheasant Tail nymph. Thanks Larry for putting this up - I've got a bunch of secondary tail feathers looking for something to do.

Scott

So what does it look like? Please.
Sorry; did the link not work?

Why can't you use either side? I have been using both sides of the feather and my flies turn out ok. At least the fish think so.
cannonx4,
You can use both sides. I think what Scott is saying is that most, not all, fly tiers only use the side that is marked in the picture as "Do not use", because just about all instructions you find state to use the side that he has marked as, "Do not use". He is just saying that the other side can be used.

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
What Warren said. Don't know about other tyers, but I've got plenty of pheasant secondary tail feathers half-used. Luckily, I rarely throw anything away so now I can add olivish-bodied ones to the tailwater arsenal.
