    Interesting technique that I haven't seen before.

    It's not really oversized from a Griffith's Gnat -- Griffith tied most of his on a size 14 hook, and advised others to do the same.

    Agreed, the original was tied and fished larger. Today's application generally has it fished as a midge, and in the #18 - #22 range.

    Never used the Griffith in plus sizes, but a #14 LaFontaine Buzzball, which is similar, has been real effective. Nice fly, Ralph.
