Let the fly be with you....
Here's the first picture from the December fly swap.
When I first thought about a "large" fly swap, I had visions of several different "fancy" patterns that I could tie. Well, that didn't happen... I ended up going with one of my favorite patterns to fish.
So, put this one in your fly box and go fish it, the bass love them.

My flies are finally done, thanks for your collective patience.
I tied a Swedish version of the Black Bear, Red Butt. It is named Gl?dh?ck and I think that means Glowing But, but I'm not at all sure of that. My Swedish is a bit rusty. Well, what's in an name?
I'll cite the remarks that Chriss Mann made about this fly in his book "Hairwing & Tube Flies for Salmon":
"The Gl?dh?ck is a black fly, the dark image of which is releived only by the flash of fluorecent red floss used as a tag. Apart from the wing material - which is again Arctic fox instead of bucktail or bear - this fly is almost identical to the Black Bear, Red Butt fly from the eastern seaboard of Canada. Small dark flies, such as this, with a splash of colour as an aiming point for the fish are universally successful, particularly in clear, low water conditions, and are used all over the world."
I tied them on #2 irons, I began with a fluorescent red thread
-the tag is made of fluorescent red tying thread, with a coat of Loon's UV Knot Sense
-the butt is dubbed with red Spectra dubbing
-the body is dubbed on a black thread with Hends Spectra dubbing nr 45 (black) reaching to the end of the hook's loopeye
-the ribbing is an old silver coloured thread
-the hackle is black cock hackle from a Metz skin nr 3
-the wing is black Arctic fox.
The flies will hit the post tomorrow!
