CAUTION should guide ANY download , ESPECIALLY those offered "FREE". AIN'T no such thing as "FREE". Expect the unexpected when downloading anything INCLUDING clicking on ANY link. The way to get a response to anything is to "touch a popular nerve" . The repudiation of the flashlight ap can easily be another "free carrot" to entice the unwary. The "trojans" can be relatively benign but nontheless , possibly there.

Why not just...carry a flashlight?

The so called security experts who reported the flashlight application breach had a very simple solution. Buy their flashlight application...
I uninstalled mine when it kept on reminding me that I had turned off cell access for it, and I wondered why does a flashlight app need access anyway. Then it dawned on me what the REAL purpose of the app was. I have turned of cell access for many of my apps, but of course they still have connectivity when my phone is connected via wi-fi. I am still very concerned about this type of thing so do not do somethings (bank or credit card access) on my phone.
