Thread: Same Fish, 3rd Time This Year

Default Same Fish, 3rd Time This Year

There's a 20-inch bass in a local public pond I occasionally fish that has a very distinguishing characteristic...a big split in its pectoral fin.
I've caught her while flyfishing 3 times this year, the most recent being last night on a blockhead-style popper.
    (October 2)

Here you can see the fin:

And here's the mug shots from earlier this year:

Must be a slow learner. Also shows catch and release works.

I have to ask. Do you keep this one in a small pen?
Nice fish. Wonder what caused the fin deformity?

    Dave,
Has she invited you home to meet her folks? I mean you've taken her out three times. In some places the preacher would start smiling at you when you head thru the reception line after the service.

I have seen her follow me around the pond a couple of times this year. Maybe she always does, and I just don't see her? When I've seen her, I can't get her to strike anything, but she will follow and chase after any panfish or small bass I happen to hook.

Three times is a charm! Number four and she'll probably start talking to ya!
