Skwalas in September? To me, it's a skwala in name only; much more of an attractor pattern. A simple, quick tie that floats well; this should pound them up.
hook - TMC 5212 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
egg sac - 2mm foam black
body - peacock/Uni Stretch red
wing - Congo Hair white
legs - rubber medium barred white
hackle - grizzly dyed brown
Part 1
Mash down barb; start thread at 75% mark and wrap back to bend
tie in a tapered strip of foam (a little less than gap width); a little Super Glue on the shank and tie down
fold the foam over, squirt a little more Super Glue, tie down and cover with thread
tie in some peacock, twist around thread and wrap forward to 25% mark; tie off and trim
tie in Uni Stretch, wrap forward to 50% mark
