    Default Tying the Bivisible Moose

    Bivisible Moose.jpg

The Bivisible Moose is one of my favorite early spring search patterns. On waters where the Hendricksons, Quills and March Browns are present, this pattern will bring them to the top whether a hatch is present or not. The original pattern was tied Brown/Grizzly as in my book "Tomorrows Fish". However, on local waters over the past few years I have found a Golden Badger or Cree with Brown is slightly more effective.

    Ralph,

Another winner. One question - in the pic, and the video, it looks like you tied the cree body hackle with the dull side forward; any reason in particular? Do you find that palmered body hackle works better tied that way (I usually tie it the same as collared hackle, with the shiny side forward)?

    Regards,
    Scott

Scott, yes I tie both in dry fly fashion. Dull side forward.

    Nice fly.
Technically though, shouldn't it be a "Palmered Moose?"

If it were all one hackle color yes, you would be correct. But with the contrasting shades it becomes a bivisible.
