How difficult is it to get hold of a repairable or repaired 8wt cane rod?

    John,

I peruse E-bay a lot and have seen some of the older heavy weights for sale, even at reasonable prices. You may have to do a little restoration work, but what you save on purchase price, you can afford to do it.

The good news is that the heavier wt bamboo rods are not as much in demand as are the smaller rods and that makes them verrrrrry affordable, the bad news is...Well there just isn't any bad news when it comes to boo.....

I am familiar with brand names like Montague, Shakespeare, Heddon but how do you identify the rod wt? I haven't seen many rods on ebay identified as 8wt only some number and letter markings that don't resemble rod weight.

    Old DT lines HCH=7wgt, GBG=8wgt, GAG=9wgt
    Old WF lines HCF=7wgt, GBF=8wgt, GAF=9wgt
    Single letter designations: F=7wgt, G+8wgt, H=9wgt

    Hope this helps.
