    Default Love's Lure SBS

Kiwi beetle/blowfly imitation; looks like something from a Herter's catalog. Can also be tied as a "traditional" dry with an upright/divided wing but the parachute was a lot easier and still pretty cool. Save your good hackle for something else; it just helps the fly land upright while delaying the inevitable.

    thread - Danville 6/0 black
    tail/wing - peacock sword
    body - peacock herl
wing post - Congo Hair black
hackle - black (oversize by 1)

    Part 1

Mash down barb, attach thread at 3/4 mark

take a hank of CH underneath the hook, pull up, x-wrap in place, post, clip short, brush with Sally; don't know if the original called for this but the peacock sword fibers need all the help they can get

clean, stack, measure (shank length) some sword fibers

tie in at base of post, pull up/set with thread dam in front, post

tie in hackle, shiny side out; wind thread to point above barb

    Part 2

clean, stack, measure (shank length) some more sword fibers; tie in, smooth junction with wing butts

tie in some peacock herl; twist around thread and wrap body, finish thread at wing post

wrap hackle down post, cup-side up

let tip hang down, tie off at base of post, take one wrap through thorax, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

    seek out a blowfly infestation

    Scott

I like that and bet the Bluegills here would eat that up! Nice tie!

    Hi Scott,

Really nice job like usual. I was surprised to see this tied as a dry fly. I was in a fly swap years ago at the old VFS forum and a guy from New Zealand tied a Love's Lure that was a wet fly. I just assumed that was the only version.

    Regards,
    Mark

Very nice! I've not seen a parachute version of this, but I know the regular does well during green beetle hatches. A good general terrestrial, along with a coch-y-bondhu.
