    Default Refurbishing Old Leaders

    Hello,

I was going through some of my old leaders & found a couple of 4X 7.5' taper leaders, knotless, that I've trimmed down about 8-10" over time and the rest of the leader is fine. I was going to tie on some new tippet ends to the leaders, using fluorocarbon tippet, is this ok to do or should one stick with mono tippet?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I always run flouro tippet to mono leader. Never a problem.

I haven't had a problem with mono to fluorocarbon. However, you can always add a tippet ring which will provide some convienence in the future as well as separately the mono and fluoro connections.

those are on my "To Order" list. I've read allot about them but haven't tried them yet. I can see a real benefit to using them tho.

All of my tippet to leader connections are tied with a triple surgeons knot. Great knot for that purpose. I use an Orvis Cinch brass knot tying tool, Cabela's also sells one, great for that knot.
