Has anyone tried using a laser-line for alignment?
Adam
Adam,
I tried it on a graphite rod I was redoing. It seems to me, if I remember right, I was trying to line it up through the eyes themselves. That didn't work because of the change in diameter of the eyes. I tried it on the rod itself and that didn't work because of the taper of the rod. It would seem to me that somehow a lasar would work, it just didn't work with me doing it. Hopefully someone with more experience will be able to answer your question. I will be interested also.
good Luck
Steve
Put a reel on the rod.
Put the the rod over a couple of straight back chairs.
Eyeball it.
Straight every time.

Dudley,
Eye ballin it is exactly what I ended up doing each time and you are right. Your eyes hardly ever lie to you. You just have to learn to trust em.

ADAMHRY;
I use the reflection of a 4' shop light on the blank. From guide foot to guide foot.

I like to eyeball it but I agree with Jack. I have used shop light to get started, it works.
