Tell Davy great report. I do a lot of nymphing in the rivers of western Montana and eastern Washington. This time of year the waters are still very high, they are coming down to their summer levels but they are still high. This means deep water nymphing with leaders often around 12 to 14 feet. I use 11 foot rods for my nymphing so these long leaders are not problem. Anyway, great report. Hope people read it and take it to heart and give the ideas a try. They work.

Are you wade fishing or from a boat.
As a matter of interest to you my river the White can run as much as 26,000cfs when all 8 gates are open, thats a ton of water running at about 14ft depth and 12 mph or more.

Up here in the greater northwest when I fish a river I go guided from a boat (mostly drift boats but some guides use ridged framed rafts). I will get out and fish along a gravel bar or such but mostly from a boat. I would imagine that when the White is flowing at 26,000 cfs there isn't much fishing going on, but I have never fished the White so I don't know. With speeds of the water being up to 12 mph, that may make the river a bit unsafe, but again I have never fished your rivers down there. Sounds like good waters for chucking heavy streamers with a serious sink tip line.
