This makes it more clear than the previous directions I have seen.
    Thanks!

I was sort of surprised you don't pull hard on the tag end. Guess you don't have to. Neat looking knot, especially with the 'hackle' tool.

This is the video that I used to get the 'hang' of it.
I've tried the knot in the past, but wasn't confident enough to use it.
Sometimes I wouldn't tie it correctly and the knot would slip.

The key that I found was holding the tag in the correct position, relative to the eye of the hook, while you tighten the knot.
A few weeks back, I was confident enough to try it on the stream and it worked great.
It wastes little tippet and it's a good, strong knot.

I got to test the knot strength several times throughout the day........on snags, not big fish.

Brian yes the key is to hold the tag and the hook at the same time while increasing the pressure to tighten the knot.

Anyone here done any strength tests on this knot using a scale yet?

There really is no way to determine with a knot strength test the value of any knot as many issues related cannot be determined with a simple stretch test, that said, tie my knot correctly and you should have no problem.
If it holds well enough for a 12lb brown to 5x what more can you ask for.

The 3 main reasons why knots fail are related to,,
    Not tying the knot correctly.
Anglers response to setting the hook.
Using a rod action not suited to fishing fine leader/tippet

    Hi Davy.

One of these days I am going to get down to Arkansas and we will go fishing.

A knot that I have used for years is the Turle Knot. My only complaint about it was the amount of tippet I wasted when tying the knot. The Davy Knot uses an absolute minimum amount of tippet. I do believe I have converted to the Davy and Double Davy knots.
