    Default Clipped Caribou Sedge SBS

Lost a few pics off the disk (hence the mid-stream color change) so I had to tie the d.mn fly twice.

    hook - Dai Riki 320 #16
    thread - MFC 8/0 brown, errr...UTC 70 tan
    abdomen - caribou spun/clipped
    wing - deer hair
    hackle - brown, errr... ginger

    Part 1

mash barb, start thread at the back end; you can spin hair on a wrapped shank, but it's just as easy not to (and the thread savings is tremendous when factored over thousands of flies)

clean a clump of caribou, trim off tips; tie in with 2 soft loops and let it spin

    pack it back, half hitch

    repeat

one more time; tie off and trim thread

flip it over, lay a razor blade on the eye (to establish the belly) and push straight back

    Default

    Part 2

trim body to shape; re-start thread

clean, stack, measure (tips gap width past the bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in

post pixel loss/color change (ginger actually looks better than the brown did, anyway), tie in hackle at base of wing

wrap hackle, tie off, trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

clipped hackle version for flatwater apps

    Regards,
    Scott
