    To the original question.

    No.

    I see no need to 'categorize' any fly accurately. A few rough categories are obvious, but anything more requires an unattainable amount of agreement among folks who can't seem to agree on much of anything. Even trying to get any kind of consensus on what is and is not a fly is problematic?

    Besides, it's basically irrelevant. Who cares what a fly is 'categorized' as? Who decides, and why does it really matter? (I know there are 'regulations' out there, but those are arbitrary, vary greatly by jurisdiction, and bear little resemblance, in most cases, to reason).
