    Default COLLARD CADDIS - FOTW - May 5, 2014

    COLLARD CADDIS

Like most trout fishermen, I fish the major hatches on most any river I'm on, but I am most fond of 'caddis' fishing. The insects are on the water most any time of the year. My fly box(s) contains a variety of pattern styles, sizes and colors. That's the problem ? I carry so many caddis patterns that I'm overwhelmed! The last few years I have promised myself to reduce the number of caddis pattern in exchange for a fewer number that are more productive.

I like this pattern, I will tie up a couple and give them a try. When would you add wire rib to the body, like the elk hair caddis? Is that only if you are tying in hackle in the body? I sometimes add a wire rib for durability on soft hackles is the reason I ask.....

Ron, shouldn't the title of this thread be " COLLARED CADDIS "? I was all set for something different with visions of collard greens in my head when I saw it was mislead. I guess I rose to that pattern. At least it was, like good humor, a dry.

    Regards,

Ron wouldn't be playing with the southern boys would he. Not what expected either. I'm guessing Mr. Tidd is pretty much unfamiliar with collard greens, probably a spinach eater.

Ron's a good guy. We talked a few years back. A little ribbing is a Southern boy's way of showing another guy a little love, your Honor.
