Not a whole lot of info on this fly (first tied by Ralph Hanna in 1948 ), but thought it was cool looking; just one pic, so mea culpa if I missed something here.

hook - TMC 5212 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - duck quill red
body - peacock herl
back wing - bucktail trude style
front wing - hen hackle tips tied semi-spent
hackle - brown

Part 1


mash barb, start thread at 60% mark; wrap back to point above barb




measure some duck quill (shank? bit of a guess); tie in






tie in some peacock herl; twist with tying thread and wrap "chenille" to 60% mark








even tips on some bucktail, measure (bit past the bend) and tie in

Part 2


move thread to 75% mark, measure hackle tips (hook gap wide) for length (shank)







tie in, convex sides facing each other; pull wings up/back and wrap in front to set the proper angle (forgot to take a pick of upright wings)










separate wings with finger and push down to tie-in; lock in place with Figure-8 wraps







tie in hackle in front of wings







wrap hackle, half hitch x 2, SHHAN; add a drop of Sally to wing tie-in and set dihedral
