    Default Denver Fishing

It looks like I'll be in Denver for ~4 days in early June and I may have a day open to try a little fishing. I've done some research about rivers in the area but I thought I'd ask the amazing folks on this board. If you only had one day, where would you go?

First thing I'd do is figure out what the Spring run-off was doing. It could be blowing out many streams, even while deep snow makes many high mountain streams unavailable.

If you are more interested in fishing than catching, maybe head for Cheesman Canyon. Beautiful drive there and back. A bit of a high altitude hike in and out for a flatlander. Gorgeous Western scenery and a tailwater, so runoff not an issue. You will see huge trout, but they all have PHDs, so you may not catch any. But you will feel like you have fished the Rockies.

    BigDan,

If I only had one day to fish an area I knew nothing about and actually wanted to possibly catch fish and since it is June with a chance of a good runoff, I would hire a guide from a local shop. Enjoy the day and you will have your best chance of catching some fish. Not a guarantee that time of year but the best bet. Anyway, that is what I would do.

You might want to look into 11 Mile Canyon. Not the largest fish, but really beautiful and lots of fish.

11 mile would be my suggestion, too.

    I agree with 11 Mile.
