Late June is sorta between the BWO (#18-#20) and the PMD activity (#16). You could find some of either. Good advice on visiting the local shops, but if you tied him a bunch of #18 RS2s and/or Pheasant Tails, he would be well equipped for nymph fishing. Throw in a few midge pupa. The shops can alert him if there's any surface activity and point him to the right flies for that.
