Last two post were pretty good. Here's another option. remove the butt cap as described above. measure the I.D. of the reel seat. You may be able to purchase a removable fighting butt fitting and matching fighting butt. Pacific Bay makes one . I know they can be purchased from Hook and hackle and your questions about whether or not it will fit your application can be answered there. Good Folks..

If worse comes to worse and nothing fits.
You can always buy a long cork fighting butt , and with the use of a dremel tool hollow out the butt enough to slip over the seat by and inch or so and direct epoxy it.
Your measurements in the hollowing out process must be exact or very close, other wise the fit will be sloppy and not insure a good bond. PS as for balance: no real change
