hook - Dai Riki 280 #10
thread - UTC 140 tan
tail - moose body
abdomen - 1mm foam tan
binder strip - foam
wing - elk hair
post - Congo Hair white
hackle - grizzly dyed brown
legs - rubber medium barred tan
thorax - dubbing tan

Part 1

substrate prepared (refer to Carnage Stonefly); attach thread at tip




clean, stack some moose body, tie in, tie off, trim






a little Super Glue and start foam wraps; continue up body






trim, poke a hole where you want the hook to go and slide it on debarbed hook

Part 2


mount body (same as Stonefly)












clean, stack, measure (extend a bit past foam body) elk, tie in, trim butts






wrap wing with non-tox wire to keep it out of the way for post production




tie in C-H, post up, brush with Sally

Part 3


prep hackle, tie in shiny side out




add legs




move thread to eye, dub thread; dub thorax front to back (a few wraps on the wing), finish at base of post






wrap hackle down post, cup-side up






2 wraps at base of post to capture hackle tip, then once through thorax and half hitch x 2 at eye; trim, SHHAN






trim post & legs

Next trip is probably going to be to a little blue line for Westslopes; they're not real picky. Updated version with the mono core for durability and all synth wing for simplicity.
