I notice no weighting on the larva. How much weight do you add to the tippet in moderate flowing streams when you fish this pattern?

Adding weight is of course always an option, however...

I typically fish the Maggot one of two ways.

1. Casting to a sighted fish, finning higher in the water column
2. As a (NZ style) dropper under a dry fly. The heavy wire hook is just enough to ensure a swift descent, but not too dense to drag down or influence the dry fly drift.
