    Default Humpy Variations

I love to fish Humpies, but I don't like taking 15 to 20 minutes to make them look perfect. I also don't like the fact that the "hump" explodes after a few fish. That being said, I get some level of satisfaction taking the time to do hair wings, and thick hackle. I also fish a Humpy variation that was quite a process in evolving. It's pretty ugly, but fish eat it (Called the Grumpy Frumpy). What are your go-to hump-ish patterns?

Grumpy Frumpies caught a lot of fish for me last year (yellow/red stripe and purple/black stripe worked best).

Foam-back Convertible has been my go-to attractor for years

I'm going to try an all-foam bodied version (One Strip Pony) this year and see how it does

    Scott

Those bugs are very nice. I might have to try a few of them out.

Scott, your flies look fine. I like them and might try them soon. Thanks for your post.

    Ed,

Here's cheech's excellent Grumpy Frumpy vid, too

If you're looking for a Humpy tutorial, Charlie Craven's Improved version is the best I've ever seen (huge surprise); takes all the guesswork out and makes tying them almost (I said almost) fun.
