Oh yes, I've dressed installed trebles from the bend(s) toward the eye with minimal blood letting.......

If you google dressing treble hooks you will find several videos showing how to do this. You can use the cheap hackle from a craft store if it has a waterproof dye.
I can think of few acts more selfish than refusing a vaccination.
If I remember correctly the body of the spinner is a pain to deal with when putting new hackle on the hook. You might want to consider snipping one side of the eye and spreading the gap to remove it and then simply closing the gap after the hook is dressed. Don't limit your thinking to feathers, Mepps uses a lot squirrel tail on their spinners.

ROOSTER TAIL SPINNERS DO NOT HAVE DRESSED TREBLE HOOKS. The hackle is wrapped on the wire spinner shaft, over the loop of wire where the hook is attached.
Whiskers, I am one of the infidels on here who also make and use spinning lures. The way I dress Rooster-Tail type spinners is to form my shaft wire into an open loop, slide on the treble, then put the wire loop in my vise. I then pull the open loop tag end closed with wraps of thread, tie in and wrap a large saddle hackle, tie it off, then build the rest of the lure. Last step is to form and close the "top" loop where you attach your snap or snap-swivel.
To the simpleton, proof does not matter once emotion takes hold of an issue.
Mepps is to 50 miles from where I live. They collect squirrel tails from all the local hunters.

Don't know if they still do, but back in the day Mepps advertised in all the national fishing magazines that they bought squirrel tails. I think maybe they used to pay something like $.15 a piece.
