Default Getting the stink out of a rod tube?

    Help!!!

Have an old Pflueger rod tube that hasn't been open in ages. Until today.

    It stinks. Badly.

Any ideas on how to freshen it up? It's a 2pc. tube, by the way.

    Does it have a lining?

Try putting baking soda or activated charcoal in it for a few days.

The charcoal should do it, but put a wad of newspaper, then some charcoal, then the newspaper, then the charcoal. This is the method the Ag department recommended when our power went off while we were gone after just freezing a new side of beef. Talk about eeeewww.

Go to a scuba diving shop & buy a little bottle of Sink the Stink. It's for dry & wet suits but works very well at removing smells from plastic, cloths & reel cases too.

Ask you significant other if they have any Febreze. Spray it with that, it may do the trick, pretty good stuff.

I'd try baking soda as a simple first...sprinkle a lot in. I wouldn't be above making a strong watery solution of it and soaking the heck out of the liner.

What is the source of the odor? If it's mold or mildew, think about a weak chlorine bleach solution.
