Default Anyone know about the passing of Jene Hughes of Des Moines, Ia

I know there are a few folks from the Des Moines, Ia area on the forum. I just learned that he just passed away. Anyone know what happened to him?

I'm in his book as we were on a fishing trip to Eastern Idaho when we shared a cabin and talked about writing a book. I traveled with him a few trips to Iowa streams when he was mapping and describing them for his book.

Would like to know what caused his demise.

I believe he had a heart stroke. Very sad news for the Midwesterns. He was a living monument for IA fly fishing.

I have read that. It is silent on the cause. I knew him quite well. Taught fly fishing at his "bait shop".

    Byron,
Talking to people on Saturday that knew him well, they commented me that he was at a TU wine test fundraising event last weekend and he seemed to be doing great. However, he suffered a heart attack on Thursday. Life is too precious and fragile.

I heard heart attack. Last night a friend here in Des Moines, told me it was an aneurysm. Either way it was quick and painless.

I was sorry to hear of this.
I've visited his shop a few times...but I'm not sure he was ever the fellow who rang up my purchases. He was probably out fishing!
The amount of field research he put into his book is extremely impressive!
