    Default Goshawk Just Found Lunch

Was just typing away a couple minutes ago and motion on the back fence caught my attention. It took a second to realize it was just a red squirrel. About that time a blur came out of nowhere nailed that squirrel. Mantling over the squirrel on the ground it was obviously a male goshawk (tiercel).

He flew off with it pretty quickly.

    Art,

I wish we had some goshawks to thin out our squirrels. We've got Sharpshins and Coopers that terrorize the songbirds and the occasional Red Shoulder looking for chipmunks but none of them care for squirrel meat.

    Regards,
    Scott
