    Default Red Quill Emerger

Came across a Red Quill Emerger pattern, I improvised on the hackle but everything else matches the pattern.

    #14 Hook
    Bronze mallard flank - Tail
Red Stripped hackle stem - Abdomen
Chocolate color antron dubbing - Thorax
    Bronze mallard flank - Collar
    Coat Abdomen in head cement

Very nice, I'd bet that would work well as a spinner fished just awash as well. Was it a natural or dyed hackle stem?
    Cheers,

    LilJoe,

I like that fly. I could see how it could be effective for early spring eastern streams.

    Thanks!

    Joe,

I'm headed to the Smokys at the end of April / first of May. Will the quills still be around then?

I was there last year in May and I think that I was a little late for them.

Thanks! And yeah I'd say it would work well that way too. The hackle is dyed, I think the name of the color is root beer but it's a very bright red.
