Thread: Bamboo guides

    Default Bamboo guides

I got a wild hair and decided to refinish an older bamboo rod. This 8'-6 three peice rod had a total of 4 guides plus the tip.I'm pretty sure it could use a few more guides. My question is,do you use the same spacing as graphite? I've been alittle hesitant of taking this project on but I figured, what the hell, why not.
    Thanks
    John

Check out RodDNA. You could mic the taper and plug it into this software to get the guide spacings/sizes along with ferrule and tip top sizes. After you have the guide spacings start tweeking them to see where your rod performs best at. oh yeah and it's free

all measurements are in inches from the tip and are placed as if the rod is joined together

the first 5 guides are on the tip and the 5th guide is put up against the male ferrule

this will work for any 8 1/2 ft 3pc cane rod
