    Default Fire Tiger Zonker

Something a little different for me.
I would love to see the rabbit these zonker strips were cut from!

    Hook: Mustad R90 size 8.
Thread: UTC 140 Fl Fire Orange.
    Tail: UV Perl Crystal flash.
Body: Two strands each of silver and gold wire twisted together and shuttle woven. Gold on top.
    Wing: Rabbit strip (from Hareline).
Hackle: 1 Inch of rabbit strip set into split thread. Skin trimmed off.

If nothing else it will annoy some rainbow trout into trying to kill it!

    Cheers,
    A.

    Alan,

Beautiful fly. I love the colors and it should work very well for bass as well as rainbows and probably browns.

    Thanks for sharing.

Last time I saw color patterns like that was on a punk rocker in the 80's. Maybe a bunny living in the past?

Nice looking ties, maybe I can find a rabbit here living in the past and talk him out of his skin.

    Alan,

Beautiful fly; this would be great for peacock bass.

My last hunting trip to Fukushima produced some wildly colored hares...

Typical Zonkers here are tied with a tear-drop shaped, cut-lead-sheet body, heavy end forward, and covered with mylar tubing. I cannot see the body well, but know what it would like... Interesting way of saving some time.
    thanks

Not the same fly but this one shows the body technique. This technique isn't as difficult as it may seem.

I've never liked the way the lead fills up the gap of the hook on the original Zonker. All the gap is there for a reason, hooking fish. If I feel it is obstructed by the dressing I will not fish the fly with the confidence I should. (More likely I'll not fish it at all).
    Cheers,
    A.

I'm obviously a fan of those strips...
