    That's one nice looking bug.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

    nice looking fly byron,

have you considered a couple light cahills, hendricksons, or quill gordons. dont know where you fish at but back in the mid 60's about all i would throw was a light or dark cahill wet pattern in the adirondacks.

    Yes, I have John.
It is a very interesting point, you raise.
My fishing is primarily " Out West" which I mean to be Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
As I have mentioned here before, out there you will hardly ever find a "traditional" or Catskill style fly.
Most fishers out there use newer and more fast water floating flies. For example, comparadun/Sparkle Dun Stle flies.
And, if you look at Harrop's flies, many are tied to represent struggling emergent flies, and very often with CDC.
Deer hair patterns are very popular out on the big, rough water streams out West.

Ummm, Is it fair to say that a comparadun or sparkle dun is more of a fast water fly than a traditional Catskill?
