The gurus over on Clark's classic forum have said you need to remove the spring, stretch it a little, heat it to 350 to re-temper it, and put it back. Some said replace the spring with one that adds a little more force. I have a 67 I'd like to tighten just a little, but haven't tried it yet. Hopefully someone who's done it will chime in.

When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.
