    Default Blanton Lime Punch SBS





    hook - Mustad 3407 #1/0
    thread - Danville flatwax chartreuse
    eye - bead chain silver
    tail - bucktail chartreuse/Flashabou pearl
    body - Krystal Flash chartreuse
    hackle - chartreuse
    underwing - Krystal Flash chartreuse
    wing - bucktail chartreuse
    overwing - Krystal Flash peacock
    topping - peacock herl
    shoulder - grizzly dyed chartreuse
    head - chenille chartreuse

    Part 1


    mash barb, start thread behind eye




    tie in bead chain about 1/4" behind back of hook eye




    wrap thread back to hook bend




    tie in a sparse clump of bucktail

    tie in Flashabou (20 strands) a little longer than bucktail




    tie in some Krystal Flash, wrap back to tail



    wrap KF behind/under tail, then forward; tie off but don't trim ends (they'll be your underwing




    tie in hackle (folded) and wrap forward

    Part 2


    pull KF back and tie down




    tie in another sparse clump of bucktail






    add some peacock KF




    and some of the real stuff (don't trim the ends)



    tie in shoulder feathers






    strip end off chenille and tie in front of eyes

    Part 3


    take wrap in front, between, behind, and finish in front








    pull butt ends of peacock over top; tie off and trim




    whip finish, SHHAN, trim KF

    Scaled down to a #4 so it would be a bit easier to photograph.

    Are those tied to fool smallmouths? They look like they would certainly work for them. Really nice flies.

    Punch flies were originally tied for tarpon & snook but they've caught lots of other fish in salt and freshwater. http://www.danblanton.com/blog/dans-punch-story/
