Tom Larimer's skating version of a Chernobyl. Original pattern calls for deer hair legs/collar, my black deer hair was pretty awful so I subbed moose body; seemed to work okay and the stuff is pretty durable. Change colors to suit needs; this could be fun to play with during a (name your favorite) stonefly hatch.

hook - Mustad 36890 #6
thread - MFC 6/0 hot orange
tail - Krystal Flash black
body - 2mm foam black & tan
legs - moose body

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at back end of return wire

clean, stack a clump of moose body hair, measure for length (let hair extend 1.5 hook gap past eye)

2 soft loops and let it spin (the hair may need a little help to make it surround the hook)

trim butts, tie in KF and wrap back; trim KF (gap x 1.5)

cut 2 foam strips (hook gap width) and taper one end

tie in even with back of hook
