Had lots of luck with this in saltwater (tied here on salmon iron). Always liked the looks of this one, although it doesn't get much attention; change colors to suit your needs.

    hook - Mustad 36890 #6
    thread - Danville 6/0 black
    tail - Flashabou silver
    body - Diamond Braid silver
    hackle - white
wing - Krystal Flash pearl, calftail, Krystal Flash peacock
    topping - peacock herl

    Part 1

mash barb, start thread (if you want it to go deep, add some non-tox wraps)

tie in a clump of Flashabou (10 strands here), double over and wrap back to point above mid-barb

tie in braid, wrap to tail and back; tie off and trim

tie in (folded) hackle, sweep fibers back while wrapping forward; tie off, then stroke hackle back and down while wrapping thread back for wing tie-in

tie in a few strands of pearl KF

tie in calftail wing (you can sub bucktail, arctic fox, insert favorite synthetic)

    Part 2

tie in a few strands of peacock KF and peacock herl

whip finish, SHHAN, trim tail (shank x 2), trim KF and you're done

    Black/orange

Firetiger (wish I had thought of tying up some of these for peacock bass)

    Regards,
    Scott

The turned up eye hook says salmon or the like, but the bling and flash say crappie. I think that would be a killer crappie, and bass, fly. As always, great job Scott.

I'm telling you..... these flies swung for white bass in the spring would fill up a stringer in pretty short order. I've got some #8 salmon style hooks and might have to give some a try!

I have tied and used these style flies for bluefish when they are on small bait and they even work in the saltwater. Ron

That firetiger looks awesome. I'd hit that one myself.
