Attaching rings to furled leader

I do it the same, however instead of Paper clip I use wire. I then thread the wire through the ring (NOTE: Depending on your ring supplier, not all rings are the same. I bought some #2 on ebay and they were bigger than my J Stockard #3). I then thread the knit picker through the loop in the end of the leader (where the wire is) them I grab the ring and pull it through then tighten. Much easier then pulling the entire leader through.

The paper clip in the photos has absolutely nothing to do with installing the ring. The crochet hook does. I'd like to see some step by step photos of your method as it sounds like it would be faster, pulling the entire leader through is a pain.

I hope this makes sense. This is what works for me. I use wire off an old electric tool so there is plenty of it. I also use a pedestal from a vise for a third hand. Here are the steps.

Thank you all for the info. I've been studying on how to do this for a while. With Joni's technique I was able to put a ring on a pre-existing perfection loop on a mono leader, just to see if I could. Thanks again.

I make mine the same way Joni does. The connection is twice as strong.
