Here is another way of looking at rod comparisons that includes the balance point and the torque (physical effort) required to change the direction of the cast, and how tiring the rods will be to cast over a very long day of fishing. While these considerations include more math than is required to completely kill the fishing interest in and for most of us, the salient characteristic in the equasitions is over all rod weight - the less a rod weighs, the more fun and less tiring it will be to fish with.
