yes there are, what kind of rod is it and what is the reel seat made of?

Look for a pin that may be used. then you may use several methods to heat the reel seat. Heat gun, light bulb, anything that will apply moderate heat that is indirect (no torches) after light heating most of the old reel seats come right off. I have a heat lamp bulb in the bottom of the drying cabinet and I sit the reel seat end of the rod on that for a few mintues and it comes right off. Be careful if it is a plastic seat, or phenolic. Plastics have different melting temperatures and phenolics have a tendancy to crack with too much heat.

After it is heated, I use a leather glove and with light twisting most of them come right off.
