I own and have read all of them. I still reread favorite chapters from my Gierach collection. For some reason, "The View from Rat Lake" has always grabbed me. "Good Flies" is also a good read although more of an instructional rather than entertaining read. If you like "Standing In A River Waving a Stick", I'd suggest reading them all.

I like them, but find them pretty redundant, but I still like them. If I had to pick my favorite, it would be from the title only, because I like the statement, "Standing in a river, waving a stick."

I have enjoyed every one that I have read. Our local library has a number of his books, so that is where I got started several years back. There are several that I haven't read yet. Perhaps this winter as a distraction. One of my favorite chapters is "Camp Coffee" in Trout Bum. There is just something about the whole ritual that he describes that I just enjoy reading.

Own and enjoyed them all. My favorite would be "Even Brook Trout get the Blues".

I prefer the earlier books to the latter because the earlier books were "A.K. and I go fishing..."

A.K. seems to have disappeared from the later books. In one, Gierach even admits he forgot A.K.'s phone number.

has anyone written a better ghost story than "The Fly Rod" in Trout Bum?
fly fishing and baseball share a totally deceptive simplicity; that's why they can both be lifelong pursuits.

I'm going to be contrarian and say Signs of Life.

I'm lying, but with the trouble I had tracking that sucker down and ILLing it, I need to represent.
