Default put this on your bucket list

Thanks to John Scott and ScottP for all the great Glacier NP pics that inspired me to make the trip this fall. It really is a place like no other.

All the rivers have this unusual color due to "glacieral flour" - the glaciers grind rock into such fine powder it remains suspended in the water - As someone who knows a little about suspensions, I found this amazing.

Lake Mcdonald - postcard vistas everywhere you look

Road to Bowman Lake, got a great sandwich at the Polebridge Mercantile and caught a couple cutties on the Flathead going into that park entrance.

Then we continued to Libby, MT, for a couple of days fishing the Kootenai

Fledgling osprays next to the cabin, very entertaining

Wild, native rainbow - according to Dave Blackburn, the Koot is the only river in MT with native bows, part of the Columbia River drainage. And they had some attitude and altitude, big fighting and jumping fish. Quite colorful. Many thanks to Dave and the Kootenai Angler for lodging and guiding, we aso had a couple meals at his restaurant that were excellent.

The fishing was exceptional, we saw no other guide boats on one of our half day trips, but we saw lots of fish. Even though the Corp had reduced flow to 8000cfs, this is still a big river. There were some wade accessable areas, but generally this is a river to float fish. The Flathead, in contrast, had lots of access and wade areas, and I caught fish in all the places we stopped. The biggest surprise for me was how the fish seemed to be looking up first, and taking nymphs second, just the opposite of my home trout. CDC and elk and hoppers were the ticket, and an occasional fish on PTN.

I have about 8 million pics and I will try to get some more up
