    Default Thinks Like a Fish

Before this past weekend I had seen Jack express his confidence in Warren?s ability to catch fish. To be honest, I didn?t see Warren catch a lot of fish, But I did see Warren coach me and be sure I caught fish. I listened to him, caught several brook trout, my first ever, and a nice rainbow. I think Warren uses skills he honed back when he was engaged in tournament bass fishing. Tournament bass fishing throws guys on to strange lakes, sometimes against local boys who know the lake that weekend. Successful fishermen have to understand water conditions, weather conditions and the nature of the beast they are chasing. I scanned in the cartoon below from an ad a good while back, I think it fits my friend Warren.

Now about Jack, Jack makes a great breakfast and know where there is really good barbeque, served in picturesque settings by pretty young ladies, but that doesn?t surprise anyone who knows Jack. He also produces some killer furled leaders, that get down and will take your fly with them.

Why, thank you Jesse! I really do, mentally, try and visualize where I feel the fish should be and do whatever is needed to get the fly to their level. We are not using live bait when fly fishing and you need to tie flies that look alive by having material that has a lot of movement in the water and then you must fish the fly. To learn where fish should be in a system and the only way to learn how to fish a fly is by time on the water and lots of it. Do not limit your time by fishing where everyone else is. Fish all the water and when you do that you will soon learn where fish should be and where they are not and sometimes fish will be where they should not be. : ) Spend as much time on the water as you can and always explore new areas and get away from everyone else so that you have new water to fish. Find out what flies you really enjoy fishing and try to become better with them and most important of all of it is have fun. When the fish take a break from feeding, don't spend your time trying every fly you have with you. Instead, go sit on a rock or log and enjoy the surroundings and the peace and quiet. When you notice that the fish are feeding again, go fish.

Again, I thank you and I enjoyed watching you enjoy yourself and I hope you will return soon and spend more time. I have a couple other places I would love to show you.
    Warren
Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
